Every life must have a reason
So I thought the story goes
Just holding onto dreams now,
As reality steals the show
Wisdom such an asset,
But its gained too late in life
The prize of youth without control
Just the blade but not the knife
The challenge is here,
Dont say what you fear
Whats over the hill do you know
No longer the child, once where so wild
Wait for the hold man to show
I wake up every morning,
Though Ive slept through
All of these years
A cog that turns another,
Am I clockwork puppeteer?
The treadmill of surviving
Im still spinning round and round
The motions Im use to,
That I need no sight nor sound
The dawn of life, Ive waited long to see
Now the figure of resentment,
This is not how I thought it would be.
Cant you see?
The challenge is here,
Dont say what you fear
Whats over the hill do you know
No longer the child, once where so wild
Wait for the hold man to show
The truth in the eyes, still wear the disguise
For the wonders you may never see
Its high time to fear, the final frontier
The face in the crowd is now me
I painted life by numbers,
Every color mixed so true
But how could I paint a rainbow,
When all I saw, its was blue
The picture now is drying,
As I wipe dust from the frame
A lifetimes picture is complete
But the canvas is still so plain
